SAINT KOSMAS OF AITOLIA, GREECE, NEW HIEROMARTYR 9294 St. Kosmas during the 18th century travelled all over Greece preaching and bringing many back to the Orthodox Faith that had turned away because of the Turkish occupation. He taught everyone the use of the Jesus Prayer, and established over 200 schools to educate all in the Greek language and their Orthodox traditions. Finally, St. Kosmas was martyred late 18th century in Albania. He is called “Equal to the Apostles” and had the gift of prophesy. The Ecumenical Patriarchate officially added his list to canonised saints in 1961.
